Coronation Street fans have long wished for the departure of weaselly slimeball Carl Webster, played by Jonathan Howard. Debbie Webster, portrayed by Sue Devaney, finally found a solution: paying him two thousand pounds to leave. But as a new spoiler video reveals, Debbie may already be regretting her decision.
Carl's Many Misdeeds
Carl Webster has proven to be a persistent thorn in the side of Weatherfield residents. Despite his selfish acts, including seducing Kevin Webster's wife Abi and causing a hit-and-run that left Tyrone Dobbs in a wheelchair, Debbie always gave him the benefit of the doubt. She even went to prison for a crime she didn't commit after Carl's drunk driving led to a fatal crash. Debbie's guilt over hiding that Carl is her secret son, not her brother, has fueled her leniency.
Ronnie's Fury
Debbie's husband Ronnie Bailey, played by Vinta Morgan, blames Carl for the rapid decline of Debbie's vascular dementia. When Ronnie attacked Carl in a rage, Carl blackmailed Debbie by threatening to file assault charges unless she gave him half of the Chariot Hotel. This was the wake-up call Debbie needed. She paid him two thousand pounds and gave him a Saint Christopher's medal, hoping for a clean break.
Debbie's Regret
In the spoiler video, Debbie laments the pay-off to Ronnie and Kevin. Ronnie consoles himself with the thought of peace and quiet, but Debbie questions if peace and quiet is overrated. Kevin reminds her that Carl gave her no choice, calling him poison. Despite her own words, Debbie looks devastated to hear them from her brother.
What's Next?
Coronation Street has teased that Carl will commit one last act of revenge before he goes, targeting Kevin. Additionally, a murderer is on the Cobbles, and Carl is one of five potential victims. Has Carl finally pushed his family too far?
