Police Launch Urgent Appeal to Identify Man Discovered Deceased in Wheelie Bin
West Midlands Police have issued a public appeal for assistance in identifying a man whose body was found inside a wheelie bin in Coventry on Friday, March 13, 2026. The discovery was made by a member of the public at approximately 5 p.m. in Cash's Park, located off Daimler Road in Coventry.
Distinctive Tattoos Provide Key Clues
The man is believed to be between 40 and 50 years old and has several unique tattoos that police hope will aid in his identification. On his back, there is a tattoo depicting a cross with a snake wrapped around it, accompanied by the words "Little Stardust". Additionally, on his right arm, a tattoo features the word "nan" alongside a clover and the colors of the Irish flag.
Detective Chief Inspector Phil Poole, who is leading the investigation, emphasized the importance of these markings. "I really want to hear from anyone who recognises the descriptions of the tattoos on the man, as they are quite distinctive," he stated. "These details could be crucial in helping us piece together what happened."
Investigation Focuses on Possible Vehicle Involvement
Authorities suspect that the man may have been struck by a vehicle before his body was placed in the wheelie bin. The bin, which had a green lid and belonged to Coventry City Council, was found in the park, and police are collaborating with the council to trace its original location.
DCI Poole urged the public to come forward with any relevant information. "I also really want to hear from anyone who has noticed unexplained damage on a vehicle, perhaps of a partner or relative, or anyone who's noticed a sudden change in behaviour from someone they know," he said. "If you know or are responsible for what happened to this man, I would urge you to come forward now so that we can get the answers that he deserves."
Appeal for Dashcam Footage and Reports of Stolen Bins
In addition to seeking information about the tattoos and vehicles, police have requested that anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage from the area around Cash's Park and Daimler Road on Friday come forward. They are also interested in hearing from residents in the vicinity who may have had their wheelie bins stolen recently, as this could provide further leads in the case.
A forensics tent has been established at the scene as part of the ongoing investigation. The police are treating the death as suspicious and are committed to uncovering the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
This appeal underscores the critical role that public cooperation plays in police investigations, particularly in cases involving unidentified individuals. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact West Midlands Police immediately to assist in bringing closure to this matter.
