A violent street fight in Southall in the early hours of New Year's Day has left two men in hospital, with a third injured after trying to intervene.
Altercation Near Southall Station
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that officers were flagged down on South Road, Southall, at 2.23am on Thursday, January 1. The incident took place on a busy stretch near Southall station.
According to police, a brawl had broken out involving a knife and a metal pole. Two men were allegedly attacked by two other individuals during the confrontation.
Victims Taken to Hospital
A 27-year-old man sustained stab wounds during the altercation. A second victim, aged 29, suffered a head injury. Both men were taken to a local hospital.
A police spokesperson stated that their conditions were assessed as not life-threatening or life-changing. They were described as being in a stable condition following treatment.
A third man, also 29 years old, received injuries to his arm whilst attempting to intervene in the fight. He was treated by paramedics at the scene and discharged.
Arrest and Ongoing Investigation
Following the incident, a 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in police custody as enquiries continue.
The Metropolitan Police are treating the investigation as a matter of urgency and are appealing for witnesses to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference CAD 1428/1Jan.
