A 17-year-old boy has been arrested following a serious stabbing incident in Watford on Christmas Day, which left a man in his 40s requiring hospital treatment.

Arrest and Bail Conditions

The teenager was taken into custody on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a knife in a public place. He has since been released on bail with strict conditions while police enquiries continue.

Officers from Hertfordshire Constabulary were called to the scene on 25 December 2025. The victim, a local man in his forties, was rushed to hospital for treatment. Authorities have confirmed that, thankfully, his injuries were not life-threatening.

Investigator Sian Smith, from the Three Rivers Criminal Investigation Department, is leading the ongoing investigation. She has issued a direct appeal to the public, particularly to several people believed to have been in the area at the time.

"We understand several people were in the area at the time, some of whom reportedly tried to defuse the situation, and I would urge them to contact me," said Smith. She emphasised that information can be sent to her via email directly.

Smith also urged the community to avoid speculation on social media, stating: "I appreciate the nature of this incident is concerning, but I would urge people not to speculate on social media. If you have information, please share it with us."
