Two men are facing serious charges following a massive drug bust in Greater Manchester, where police confiscated cannabis with an estimated street value of £24 million.
Major Drug Operation Uncovered
Officers from Greater Manchester Police executed a raid at a property on Leigh Tenement Farm in Blackrod, Bolton, on Friday. During the operation, they discovered a staggering two tonnes of cannabis, believed to be one of the largest seizures of its kind ever recorded in the United Kingdom.
Charges and Court Appearance
Following the raid, two local men were arrested and charged. Musa Kala, 35, of Dunbar Drive, Bolton, and Raheem Latif, 27, of Leverhulme Avenue, Bolton, have both been charged with conspiracy to supply cannabis. Both men were remanded in custody and were scheduled to appear at Manchester City Magistrates' Court on Monday, 12 January 2026.
Police Hail "Major Success" Against Crime
Detective Superintendent Joe Harrop of Greater Manchester Police praised the operation's outcome. He stated that officers had uncovered a "large-scale and sophisticated illegal operation" at the location, which housed a "significant volume of illegal drugs."
"This seizure marks a major success for our officers," Det Supt Harrop said. "It removes a major source of harm, disrupts criminal networks and helps make neighbourhoods safer." The force emphasised the importance of such operations in tackling organised crime and the supply of illegal substances within communities.
The investigation remains ongoing as police work to dismantle the wider network associated with this substantial cannabis haul.
