Police and paramedics rushed to the scene after his partner dialled emergency services, reporting that he had begun to feel tightness in his chest, started coughing, and then collapsed. Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered the 57-year-old in cardiac arrest and spent approximately 90 minutes performing resuscitation efforts at the home before transporting him to the hospital.

Local press reports indicate that Vidal Butler has been admitted to the intensive care unit at Son Espases Hospital in Palma, the capital of Majorca, where he remains in critical condition.
