Peter Crouch Hails Chelsea Duo as Must-Watch Players After Villa Triumph
Former England striker Peter Crouch has declared he would 'pay to watch' two Chelsea players following their dominant 4-1 Premier League win against Aston Villa on Wednesday night. The victory, orchestrated by manager Liam Rosenior, ended a three-game winless streak in the league and revitalized Chelsea's top-four aspirations.
Chelsea's Comeback Secures Crucial Points
Chelsea faced an early setback when Douglas Luiz put Aston Villa ahead, but the Blues mounted a stunning turnaround. Joao Pedro stole the show with a superb hat-trick, while Cole Palmer contributed a goal, sealing a 4-1 result at Villa Park. This win narrows the gap to top-four contenders Aston Villa and Manchester United to just three points, with nine matches remaining in the season.
Crouch, speaking on TNT Sports, expressed his admiration for Pedro and Palmer, emphasizing their entertainment value. 'I would pay money to watch them, Joao Pedro and Cole Palmer,' Crouch stated, highlighting their impact on the game.
Rosenior's Praise for Pedro and Garnacho
When asked about Pedro, a £60 million signing, Rosenior described his potential as 'scary, scary.' Pedro has now tallied 14 goals and five assists in the Premier League this season. 'With the age they are, it's a joy to work with them every day,' Rosenior added. 'His mentality as well, he's a warrior. He's a fantastic footballer but he's strong and physical too. We know he's an outstanding player and for me, he's got even more to go, which is even better for us.'
Rosenior also commended Alejandro Garnacho, who delivered a bright display and assisted Pedro's third goal. 'He was outstanding, outstanding,' Rosenior said of the former Manchester United winger. 'I've had a lot of conversations with him, and I told him just in there [in the dressing room] that I knew he would play well tonight because of the way he's trained the last two weeks. He's been disappointed not to play and he should be, but he's been really positive in training and put it into practice today.'
Pedro Reflects on Hat-Trick and Team Response
Joao Pedro, beaming after his first Chelsea hat-trick, praised his teammates for bouncing back from a recent defeat to Arsenal. 'I think it is a special night for me,' Pedro said. 'I was waiting for this time. My hat-trick came at the right moment, after we lost against Arsenal. I think we showed a good reaction and how much we want to achieve. I work a lot to be ready for this moment, and I have great players around me, so I try to always be in the right place, and today I could score three goals.'
He added, 'Everyone wants to win every game. The last game against Arsenal we couldn't win. Today we showed how much we were frustrated from the last game and got an important three points away. In the whole season, we try to be consistent but have dropped too many points at home, but now we need to look forward and do our best every game.'
Upcoming Fixtures for Chelsea
Chelsea now turn their attention to upcoming challenges, starting with an FA Cup match against Wrexham this weekend. This is followed by a crucial Champions League knockout game against holders Paris Saint-Germain, adding to the pressure and excitement for the squad.
The performance against Aston Villa has not only boosted Chelsea's league position but also earned high praise from football pundits like Crouch, underscoring the team's potential as they push for European qualification.
