Crystal Palace are reportedly lining up a January move for Manchester City's highly-rated winger Oscar Bobb, with the Norwegian international valued at around £20-£25 million.
Palace Seek Attacking Reinforcements
According to reports from TEAMtalk, Eagles boss Oliver Glasner is keen to bolster his attacking options before the transfer window slams shut on Monday 2nd February. The club, currently sitting in 13th place in the Premier League after 13 games, are looking to add depth and quality to their squad.
This need has been highlighted by a demanding schedule that includes their Europa Conference League campaign, alongside the recent disappointment of being knocked out of the FA Cup by non-league side Macclesfield. A player of Bobb's profile is seen as an ideal addition to handle the increased workload.
Dortmund Also in the Frame for Bobb
Crystal Palace are not alone in their admiration for the 22-year-old. The report also names German giants Borussia Dortmund as potential suitors, setting up a possible transfer battle for the young forward.
Bobb, who has 16 caps for Norway, joined Manchester City in 2019 from Valerenga. Under Pep Guardiola, he has made 47 appearances, scoring three goals, with 15 of those outings coming in the current season.
"A Machine" Available for the Right Price
Insight into the potential transfer fee has been provided by former Everton and Aston Villa chief executive Keith Wyness. Speaking to Football Insider, Wyness suggested City could be open to a deal in the £20m to £25m range, potentially including bonus-related add-ons.
Bobb's qualities have been publicly praised by his current manager. In October, Pep Guardiola hailed the player's work ethic, stating: "Oscar defensively is a machine, he helped us a lot and in the final third. His one-v-one is really good and he made good decisions."
A move to Selhurst Park could offer Bobb the regular first-team football he needs at this crucial stage of his development, something that is difficult to guarantee amidst City's star-studded attacking options. For Palace, he represents a dynamic option who likes to cut in from the right onto his stronger left foot, adding a new dimension to Glasner's attacking play.
