Things take a dramatic turn for Eve Panesar-Unwin (Heather Peace) and Suki Panesar-Unwin (Balvinder Sopal) in upcoming EastEnders scenes as emotions run high on what should be one of the most important days of their lives. The couple are preparing for a crucial adoption panel, but a combination of family tensions, painful memories and outside interference threatens to derail everything.
Family Tensions Surface
The week begins with Suki, Eve and Lily Slater (Lillia Turner) helping Vinny Panesar (Shiv Jalota) move. However, it soon becomes clear that all is not well between Suki and her son. Later, while in The Vic, Vinny has one too many drinks and confronts his mother over what he sees as her lack of concern about the anniversary of Jag's death. The emotional outburst leaves Suki shaken, particularly as the day continues to bring back difficult memories for the Panesar family.
Thankfully, they are eventually able to put their differences aside, and Vinny and Suki share a heartfelt conversation about Jags, with both opening up about their grief and regrets. But while they may have reached an understanding, Suki is still struggling.
Suki's Struggles Continue
Back at home, Eve quickly notices that something is bothering her wife. Suki attempts to put on a brave face, but the weight of the day is clearly taking its toll. Things go from bad to worse when Suki later crosses paths with Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington). The encounter leaves Suki irritated and upset, adding even more pressure ahead of the adoption panel.
The big day finally arrives, but Suki is already worried that things won't go according to plan. With the anniversary of Jags' death hanging over her and emotions running close to the surface, she heads into the meeting feeling far from confident. During the panel, Suki faces difficult questions about her family and her other children. The probing conversation proves too much, and she becomes overwhelmed by the emotions of the day. Unable to cope, Suki suddenly flees the meeting, leaving their adoption hopes hanging in the balance.
Eve's Breaking Point
Back at home, Vinny does his best to support his mum and encourage her not to give up. There may even be a glimmer of hope when Suki receives a call from their adoption officer. But while Suki is trying to process everything, Eve is having her own difficult day. Feeling helpless and frustrated by the situation, Eve heads to Harry's Barn and starts drowning her sorrows.
Unfortunately, Nicola is never far away from the drama. As tensions continue to simmer between the two women, Nicola decides to make matters worse by speaking negatively about Suki. Already emotional and fuelled by alcohol, Eve reaches breaking point. Unable to stay calm, she lashes out in a drunken rage, creating fresh problems at a time when she and Suki should be focused on securing their future together.
