Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace have reportedly been presented with a significant January transfer opportunity, with AS Monaco full-back Vanderson offered to both Premier League clubs for a fee in the region of £20 million.
Porro Exit Rumours Prompt Defensive Search
The news emerges amid swirling speculation concerning the future of Spurs' first-choice right-back, Pedro Porro. Reports from Spain, cited by TeamTALK, suggest that La Liga giants Real Madrid are 'weighing up' a move for the Spanish international. Real Madrid's interest is believed to stem from their need for competition for Trent Alexander-Arnold and cover for the injured Dani Carvajal.
Porro has been a mainstay for Tottenham this season, featuring in every Premier League match under manager Thomas Frank. However, his previous criticism of the club's supporters during difficult periods has kept his position under occasional scrutiny. Should a substantial offer from Madrid materialise, Spurs would be thrust into the market for a direct replacement.
Vanderson: The £20m 'Perfectionist' Solution
According to sources, that replacement could be swiftly secured in the form of 24-year-old Brazilian defender Vanderson. The Monaco player has been explicitly offered to Tottenham, as well as to Everton, during the current January 2026 transfer window. The Ligue 1 club, who paid £10 million to sign him from Gremio in 2022, are now seeking at least double that amount to sanction a sale this month.
Vanderson is a right-back by trade, mirroring Porro's position, but also possesses the attacking instincts to operate effectively in right midfield. In 137 appearances for Monaco, he has contributed an impressive eight goals and 16 assists, highlighting his offensive threat from defence.
His former manager at Monaco, Philippe Clement, previously lauded the player's mentality, calling him a "huge perfectionist." Clement stated in 2022: "Every day he wants to be better than the last... If I left him to it, he would train for 18 hours a day. He is like that." This driven character is seen as a major asset for any potential suitor.
Palace's Interest Linked to Sosa Uncertainty
The intrigue extends to South London, where Crystal Palace are named as potential suitors. Their interest appears to be linked to uncertainty surrounding summer signing Borna Sosa, with rumours suggesting the left-back could already be seeking a departure from Selhurst Park. Securing a versatile defender like Vanderson would provide valuable cover and competition on the right flank.
This is not the first time Vanderson has been on the Premier League's radar; Brentford were keen on the player back in 2022 before he opted for Monaco. With the window now open, both Tottenham and Palace must decide whether to activate a move for the highly-rated Brazilian, whose arrival could significantly bolster their defensive options for the season's second half.
