Tottenham 'Preparing' £43m Bid for Man City's Oscar Bobb Amid Frank Pressure
Spurs Target £43m Man City Starlet Oscar Bobb

Pressure is mounting on Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank, with the club's hierarchy now reportedly considering a major January transfer move to ignite their faltering season.

Pressure Cooker Atmosphere at Tottenham

The situation for head coach Thomas Frank has become increasingly precarious following a shock 2-1 home defeat to relegation-threatened West Ham United on Saturday. The loss, sealed by a late Callum Wilson winner, was met with a chorus of boos and chants of "you're getting sacked in the morning" from disgruntled Spurs supporters directed at the Danish boss.

With the January transfer window closing in just two weeks, the club faces a critical period both on and off the pitch. If Frank is to be given more time to turn results around, securing new signings is viewed as essential to providing the spark needed for a revival.

So far this month, Spurs have sold Brennan Johnson to Crystal Palace for £35 million and reinvested that sum in former Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher. However, attacking options remain thin due to injuries to key players like Mohammed Kudus and Richarlison.

Spurs Line Up £43m Swoop for City's Bobb

According to reports from Spanish outlet Fichajes, Tottenham's solution could be a bold raid on Premier League champions Manchester City. The target is highly-rated 22-year-old Norwegian winger Oscar Bobb.

The Lilywhites are said to be 'preparing an offer worth around €50 million (£43 million)' for the young talent. Bobb's pathway at the Etihad Stadium has narrowed following the January arrival of Antoine Semenyo, pushing him further down Pep Guardiola's pecking order.

Once touted as the next academy star to follow Phil Foden and Rico Lewis into City's first team, Bobb's progress has been hampered by injury issues in recent seasons. This campaign, he has made 15 appearances across all competitions, registering one assist, but has been sidelined with a hamstring problem since late December.

Injury No Barrier as Exit Gets 'Green Light'

Despite his current injury, it is not believed to be a concern that would block a potential transfer. In fact, recent reports from Football Insider suggest Manchester City have given the 'green light for his exit' this month.

Tottenham are not without competition, however. The same reports cite German giants Borussia Dortmund as rival suitors, while Crystal Palace have also been speculatively linked.

Fichajes' reporting indicates that Spurs view Bobb as a potentially 'game-changing' acquisition. The club believes he would be given the freedom in North London to 'exploit his talent' fully and develop into a top-tier Premier League player.

Bobb's quality is not in doubt. Manager Pep Guardiola praised him effusively in August 2025 after he played the full 90 minutes in a 4-0 win at Wolves, saying: "Now I realise how much we missed him last season. He's sharp and quick... I'm so happy he is back." Guardiola highlighted his strength, defensive discipline, and threat in small spaces, concluding he was "another quality player from the academy."

The coming days will be crucial in determining whether this significant investment becomes a reality for Tottenham as they seek to change their fortunes.
