Tottenham Loanee Kolo Muani Seeks Juventus Return This Summer
According to reports from Italian news outlet Gazetta Dello Sport, Tottenham Hotspur loan striker Randal Kolo Muani is keen to return to his former club Juventus this summer, making it unlikely he will remain in England beyond the current season. The French international has struggled to find consistent form during his temporary spell in North London.
Spurs' Relegation Battle Complicates Retention Plans
Tottenham Hotspur find themselves embroiled in a serious relegation battle in the Premier League, currently sitting in 17th place with just one point separating them from the drop zone. This precarious position comes after a disappointing 3-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest in their most recent outing. The club's struggles on the pitch have coincided with Kolo Muani's underwhelming performances since his arrival last summer.
The London outfit brought in the striker to bolster their attacking options and add depth to their forward line, but the move has failed to deliver the expected impact. Kolo Muani is due to return to his parent club Paris Saint-Germain when his loan deal expires at the end of the season.
Kolo Muani's Struggles in English Football
The 31-cap France international has made 33 appearances across all competitions for Tottenham, with 21 of those coming in the Premier League. During this time, he has managed just five goals, a disappointing return for a player of his pedigree and experience. Kolo Muani was granted permission to leave PSG last summer in search of more regular playing time, having failed to secure a consistent starting position with the French champions since joining them in 2023.
Prior to his move to Tottenham, the Bondy-born forward enjoyed a successful stint at Juventus, where he scored 10 goals in just 22 appearances. His productive spell in Turin appears to have left a lasting impression, with the player now reportedly interested in returning to the Italian giants. Kolo Muani has also represented Nantes and Eintracht Frankfurt during his career.
Initial Optimism Gives Way to Disappointment
When Kolo Muani first arrived at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, he expressed enthusiasm about joining the club. "I'm really happy and very proud to be at such a great club," he said at the time. "I can't wait to meet my team-mates, all the fans and to get out on the pitch. I know what the coach expects from me. I will fight hard for the shirt, the club and the fans. Former manager Thomas Frank also praised the striker's qualities upon his arrival, noting: "Randal is a quality player who has proven himself over a number of years, playing for big teams in the Champions League and also with good experience for the France national team." Despite this initial optimism, Kolo Muani's time in England has not unfolded as either he or the club had hoped, leading to the current situation where a return to Italy appears increasingly likely.
