Elizabeth Line severe delays due to flooding at Heathrow stations
Elizabeth Line severe delays as flooding hits Heathrow

Heavy rain has caused flooding at Heathrow, leading to the suspension of Elizabeth Line services between Heathrow Terminal 4 and Terminals 2 and 3. Transport for London (TfL) confirmed the disruption early on Tuesday, June 23, as a severe heatwave continues to affect parts of the UK.

Service suspensions and delays

According to TfL's website, there is no service between Heathrow Terminals 2&3 and Heathrow Terminal 4 due to flooding caused by heavy rain. Additionally, a points failure at Southall is causing minor delays across the entire Elizabeth Line, with severe delays reported between Whitechapel and Shenfield.

The London Tramlink also experienced a suspension between Sandilands and Elmers End/Beckenham Junction due to flooding.

Extreme weather warnings

The Met Office has issued an amber warning for extreme heat on Tuesday, followed by a red weather warning on Thursday and Friday. Rail passengers across the UK have been advised to avoid non-essential travel, with refunds being offered for those affected.

On Monday, TfL warned of network delays, particularly on the Elizabeth Line and Overground. One X user reported intense rain and lightning in Ruislip, describing the storm as "something else" and noting flash flooding not seen in years.
