A devastating collision between a car and a taxi in the early hours of Sunday morning has left four people dead and five others injured in Bolton. The incident occurred on Wigan Road and is now the subject of a major police investigation.
Details of the Fatal Collision
Greater Manchester Police confirmed that a red Seat Leon and a Citroen C4 Picasso taxi were involved in the crash at approximately 12:45am on Sunday, 11 January 2026. Emergency services rushed to the scene following reports of a serious incident.
Tragically, the drivers of both vehicles and two passengers from the Seat Leon were pronounced dead at the location. All four fatalities were declared at the scene. Five other passengers sustained injuries and were transported to hospital for treatment. Their current conditions have not been disclosed by authorities.

The Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service dispatched three fire engines and a technical response unit shortly after the collision was reported, arriving at around 12:50am. "Firefighters arrived quickly to make the area safe and used cutting equipment to help remove people from the vehicles before passing them into the care of North West Ambulance Service," a service spokesperson stated.
