January 2026 Tube & TfL Closures: Full List of Weekend Disruptions
Major TfL closures planned for January 2026

Londoners are being urged to plan their journeys carefully for the first month of 2026, as a significant programme of weekend engineering works and upgrades will close sections of the Tube, Overground, and other Transport for London (TfL) services.

Weekend Works to Affect Key Underground Lines

The planned maintenance will impact almost every line on the network. Major track replacement work is scheduled between Brondesbury Park and Willesden Junction, causing considerable disruption on the routes that use this section.

On the London Underground, passengers will face a series of weekend closures. The Central line will be shut between Bethnal Green and both Epping and Hainault on the weekend of January 31 to February 1. The Circle, District, and Hammersmith & City lines will all see significant closures over the weekend of January 24-25, with the latter having no service at all for those two days.

The Jubilee line's Night Tube service will be affected on several weekends, including no service between Finchley Road and Stratford on the night of January 9-10. The entire Piccadilly line will be closed on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 January.

Overground and National Rail Disruptions

The newly renamed London Overground lines will also be heavily affected by the works programme. The Mildmay line (North London Line) faces multiple closures, including no service between Camden Road and Richmond/Shepherd's Bush from January 1-4 and again on January 31-February 1.

The Suffragette line (Gospel Oak to Barking) will have no service from Gospel Oak to Barking until 12.30pm on Sunday 25 January. On the Weaver line (Liverpool Street to Enfield/Cheshunt), there will be no service from Liverpool Street to London Fields on New Year's Day.

The Windrush line (Highbury & Islington to Clapham Junction/New Cross/Crystal Palace/West Croydon) will see trains not stopping at Canada Water over the weekend of January 10-11.

Elizabeth Line, DLR and Tram Alterations

Minor changes are also scheduled for other TfL services. The Elizabeth line will have no service from Liverpool Street's National Rail platforms to Stratford on Thursday 1 January. On Sunday 25 January, trains will not stop at Acton Main Line, Hanwell, or West Ealing.

The Docklands Light Railway (DLR) will see no service between Tower Gateway and Shadwell on January 3-4, January 10-11, and January 25. Tram services will be suspended between East Croydon and Beckenham Junction, Elmers End, and New Addington after 9.30pm on Saturday 17 January and all day on Sunday 18 January.

TfL is advising all passengers to use its online Journey Planner to check their route before travelling and to allow extra time for their journeys. The majority of the disruptive work is being concentrated on weekends to minimise the impact on weekday commuters.
