Black Axe Mangal Returns for Two Nights at Dusty Knuckle Bakery
Black Axe Mangal Returns at Dusty Knuckle in May

London food lovers were devastated when Black Axe Mangal closed its iconic Highbury restaurant late last year. Now, there is exciting news: chef Lee Tiernan and his wife Kate will return for a special two-night event at Dalston's Dusty Knuckle bakery in May.

Two-Night Blowout at Dusty Knuckle

On May 21 and 22, the cult grillhouse team will host what they call a 'two-night blowout'. The menu includes Sichuan-spiced potted pork, pickled cucumbers with Dusty Knuckle linseed baguette, grilled chicken coconut laksa, and panna cotta with pink lemonade jelly and yuzu granita. Vegetarian alternatives will be available. 'This is going to be loud, messy, emotional and absolutely delicious,' the Tiernans promise.

The event will take place on the bakery's outdoor decking area. Tickets cost £60 each, with two seatings per evening at 6pm and 8.30pm. Demand is expected to be high, so early booking is advised. Drink specials will also be available.

Black Axe Mangal's Legacy

The original Black Axe Mangal showcased Lee Tiernan's incredible cooking, drawing on his experience as head chef at St John Bread and Wine. The restaurant was known for Turkish grill-inspired nose-to-tail dishes such as squid ink and cod's roe flatbread, charred hispi cabbage with fermented shrimp butter, and crispy rabbit.

Dusty Dinners Series

This collaboration is part of Dusty Knuckle's ongoing 'Dusty Dinners' series, which partners with top chefs for special meals. Previous collaborations have included Londis N16, Roti King, Jago Rackham of Ecstasy Cookbook, and Jake Bucknall of Dinner for One Hundred.
