Police have launched a CCTV appeal after a woman was sexually assaulted inside a B&M store at Middleton Grange Shopping Centre in Hartlepool. The incident occurred in broad daylight at around 3:35pm on Saturday, June 13.
Details of the assault
The victim was allegedly approached and touched from behind by a man, according to Cleveland Police. Officers have released a photograph of a man they wish to speak to, who they believe may have information about the incident. The image shows the man wearing a suit and dark tie as he ascends an escalator at the shopping centre, which welcomes approximately 85,000 visitors per week. He is holding an unknown object in his hands, and it remains unclear whether he is a store employee or a visitor.
Police investigation and appeal
Police have reviewed CCTV footage as the investigation into the sexual assault continues. Anyone who recognises the man is urged to call 101 or report details online to Cleveland Police, quoting reference number 114117. The shopping centre and B&M have been contacted for comment by Metro.
