Marco Rubio swapped the speech lectern for the DJ deck as he took charge of music at a family wedding. The US Secretary of State was in his usual suit and tie while playing electronic dance music for an energised crowd.
Rubio's DJ Debut
In a clip shared by White House deputy chief-of-staff Dan Scavino, Rubio was shown holding a set of headphones to his ear in front of a packed dance floor. Scavino wrote on X: 'Our Great Secretary of State @MarcoRubio DJ's weddings too! Here he is in action tonight at a family wedding… Let's goooooo!!!' The Republican politician was even shown pumping his fist as the music simmered down. Among Rubio's favourite tracks appeared to be 'Shiver' by John Summit and HAYLA.
Mixed Reactions Online
Not all users were impressed however at Rubio's priorities in the middle of a global oil crisis and with talks stalling in the Middle East. One user wrote: 'How many jobs does this guy have???' Another angry response read: 'Gang of 8 Rubio dancing as 2 billion is being spent a day on a war no one voted for. Really sickening. What is wrong with you people!'
Political Context
Rubio is widely seen as a rising star in the GOP and among favourites to succeed Donald Trump in the 2028 presidential election. He has faced several key tests during his tenure so far, including handling military operations in Venezuela and negotiating a deal in the Middle East.
Trump's Dance Moves
The president himself has been no stranger to some fancy footwork, including his signature 'Trump dance' set to MAGA soundtrack, YMCA by the Village People. Trump joked that his moves weren't that popular with his wife Melania, who has suggested it's 'so unpresidential'. The first lady confirmed that she had told her husband that the dance was not appropriate 'some days'. She added: 'But it's his dance and I think people love it.'
