The rift within one of Britain's most famous families appears to be deepening, with Brooklyn Beckham taking a drastic legal step against his parents, David and Victoria Beckham.
A Formal Request for Distance
According to reports, the 26-year-old aspiring chef and his wife, actress Nicola Peltz, 31, have sent a formal legal letter to Sir David and Victoria Beckham. The letter explicitly instructs the couple to cease direct contact and communicate only through legal representatives going forward. This move represents a significant escalation in a family conflict that has simmered for years.
A source close to the situation explained the reasoning behind Brooklyn's decision to The Mirror. They stated that previous, less formal requests for his parents to stop contacting him had been ignored. "It had been leading to issues with his mental health… it was to protect himself," the insider revealed. The source added that Brooklyn would prefer any future attempts at reconciliation to be handled "privately" and away from the glare of social media.
The Path to a Public Feud
The current tensions are believed to have roots in events surrounding Brooklyn and Nicola's lavish 2022 wedding. Reports at the time suggested a disagreement after the bride-to-be opted not to wear a gown designed by her fashion designer mother-in-law, Victoria.
The situation became publicly visible in late 2025 when Brooklyn suddenly blocked his entire immediate family on Instagram. This action came just days after Victoria had liked one of his posts in what was described as a pre-Christmas olive branch. A source told Metro, "She had no idea it would lead to this fallout. She can’t understand why Brooklyn would make the decision to block her, David, and his brothers. Cruz and Romeo are just as hurt by it."
Further attempts at peace were reportedly rejected. Over the New Year, Sir David shared an old picture with Brooklyn on his Instagram Story with the caption "I love you all so much," which Victoria reshared. Following Brooklyn's dismissal of this gesture, The Sun reported the issuance of the formal legal notice.
Navigating a 'Soul-Crushing' Situation
Despite the severe step, Brooklyn is said to be maintaining contact with his grandparents on both sides. An insider told The Sun, "Brooklyn absolutely adores them, and knows how much pain this is causing everyone. So he has reached out in his own time, but tried to keep it low-key." The same source described him as "navigating this soul-crushing family feud as best he can" and noted that "Nicola remains his absolute rock."
Brooklyn has also pushed back against suggestions that he is being controlled by his wife. The legal communication itself was reportedly sent via the law firm Schillings. A source told the Mail, "David was told to speak to them via Schillings. That was the only way for them to communicate."
The feud has meant Sir David has celebrated several major milestones without his eldest son present, including his 50th birthday and his knighthood. He is also set to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2025, an event taking place just miles from where Brooklyn lives in Los Angeles, though his attendance is now in serious doubt.
