Sex offender jailed for threats to stab and throw acid at police

A convicted sex offender has been sentenced to six months in prison after making a 14-minute phone call threatening to stab and throw acid at British Transport Police (BTP) officers. Mansoor Ahmed, 31, of Blackthorn Avenue, West London, directed the hate-filled tirade at a BTP call handler in late May, expressing anger over the publicity surrounding his previous sex crimes.

Threats and Arrest

During the call, Ahmed said: 'I'm gonna stab them (officers), open their heart. You heard me, yeah? When I find one of your transport police officers, I'm going to put acid on his face. What are you gonna do?' He also made sexually violent threats towards women and children. Ahmed provided his own case reference number for a previous investigation into sexually assaulting two women on the London Underground in late 2020. He had been jailed for two years and two months for those assaults and was angry that his crimes and custody photo were made public.

Detectives from BTP's Major, Serious and Organised Crime (MSOC) team launched a manhunt, arresting Ahmed two days later, on May 29, in West London. During arrest and transport, he called officers 'dossers' and continued to hurl abuse. In interview, he claimed a 'red mist' came over him due to his crimes and the photo being public, admitting he is a criminal but asserting he is not evil.

Conviction and Sentence

At Inner London Crown Court, Ahmed pleaded guilty to Threatening Communications, Possession of Cannabis, and a Public Order offence, receiving a six-month jail term. BTP Detective Constable Lee Smith said: 'Mansoor Ahmed's threats towards our call handler and officers were frankly disgusting. He's a career criminal with a string of previous convictions, so it was imperative we caught him soon after the call before he could harm our officers or the public. This outcome shows we'll never stand for horrific abuse or threats towards anyone at BTP.'
