£20,000 Reward in Tottenham Murder Case of Mahad Abdi Mohamed
£20k reward over fatal mistaken identity shooting in London

Metropolitan Police detectives have announced a substantial £20,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of those responsible for the fatal shooting of a young father in North London earlier this year.

A Night of Violence in Tottenham

The victim, 27-year-old Mahad Abdi Mohamed, was shot in the head on Waverley Road, Tottenham, at approximately 8.45pm on 20 March. He was breaking his fast outside a friend's home when a stolen Mitsubishi Outlander approached. Suspects emerged from the vehicle and opened fire, striking both Mahad and his 26-year-old friend multiple times.

Mahad died from his injuries, while his friend was treated for a gunshot wound to his leg. The Mitsubishi was later found burned out. Police also believe a stolen blue Jaguar was used to transport the suspects to and from the scene.

Appeal for Information in Suspected Mistaken Identity Attack

Leading the investigation, Detective Chief Inspector Rebecca Woodsford stated that officers believe this was a pre-planned, targeted attack, but that Mahad was not the intended victim. "There is someone out there who knows what happened that night, and we are urging those individuals to find it in their heart to come forward," DCI Woodsford said.

The reward, offered by the independent charity Crimestoppers, is available for information that leads to the identification, arrest, and prosecution of those responsible. It will remain active for three months, expiring on 20 March 2026.

A Family's Plea for Justice

In a heartfelt appeal, Mahad's youngest sister made an emotional plea to the public, stating her brother deserved justice. She directly addressed those with information, saying: "To stay silent is to be complicit. To stay silent is to let a grieving mother suffer in confusion. To stay silent is to let a little boy grow up not knowing what happened to his father."

Police have released images of two individuals they urgently wish to speak to in connection with the incident. Four adult men were previously arrested on suspicion of murder in March and April and have been released on bail as inquiries continue.
