The shocking incident occurred on Saturday evening as the victim, identified as a dedicated Forest fan, was travelling home from watching his team play. British Transport Police confirmed they are treating the assault as attempted murder.

Marinakis, known for his close relationship with the club's supporters, released an emotional statement expressing his concern for the injured fan and his family. "We are all deeply shocked and saddened by this terrible news," the Greek shipping magnate declared.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Langley confirmed that a man in his twenties sustained serious injuries and remains hospitalised in a stable condition. "This was a horrific attack on a man simply returning home from watching football," DCI Langley stated.
