London Weekend Travel Disruption: Full Tube and Train Closures for January 24-25 2026
Londoners and visitors planning to explore the capital this weekend should prepare for significant travel disruption across multiple Transport for London services. With Burns Night celebrations and the citywide Condo art festival taking place, awareness of planned closures and service alterations is essential for smooth journeys.
Major Tube Line Closures
The Circle, District, Metropolitan, and Hammersmith & City lines are among the worst affected, with substantial closures planned throughout the weekend of January 24-25, 2026.
Circle Line: On both Saturday and Sunday, there will be no trains operating between Hammersmith and Tower Hill, or between High Street Kensington and Edgware Road. Services will only run between Barking and High Street Kensington via Victoria.
District Line: Saturday and Sunday will see no trains between High Street Kensington and Edgware Road. Additionally, eastbound trains will not stop at Barons Court until June. Passengers travelling east are advised to go one stop west to Hammersmith and then return eastbound.
Hammersmith & City Line: A complete line closure is scheduled for both days, with no trains running at all.
Metropolitan Line: No service will operate between Baker Street and Aldgate throughout the weekend.
Other TfL Service Alterations
DLR: On Sunday only, no trains will run between Shadwell and Tower Gateway. Cutty Sark station remains closed until spring.
Suffragette Line (Overground): Sunday service will be suspended entirely until 12:45pm. After this time, no trains will stop at Barking and Barking Riverside stations.
Elizabeth Line: Reduced services will operate on Sunday between Paddington and Heathrow Terminal 4/Maidenhead. Expect two trains per hour to Heathrow Terminal 4, West Drayton, Langley, Slough, Burnham, and Maidenhead; four trains per hour to Heathrow Terminals 2 and 3; and six trains per hour to Ealing Broadway, Southall, and Hayes & Harlington. Acton Main Line, West Ealing, and Hanwell stations will be closed.
Lioness Line (Overground): A reduced service will run from Kilburn High Road to Euston between 11:30am and 9:15pm on Sunday.
Mildmay Line (Overground): No service between Willesden Junction and Clapham Junction on Sunday, with reduced services operating between Camden Road and Willesden Junction every 10 minutes.
Additional Weekend Disruptions
Piccadilly Line: Eastbound trains will continue to bypass Barons Court until June, with the same workaround advised via Hammersmith. On Sunday, Holloway Road station will experience disruption due to a football match, with no eastbound trains stopping between 3:15pm and 4:30pm, and no westbound trains stopping from 6:10pm to 7:40pm.
Jubilee Line: Trains will not stop at Baker Street on Saturday.
Waterloo and City Line: As usual, this line remains closed on weekends.
These extensive closures follow last weekend's Piccadilly Line disruption and represent significant ongoing upgrade works across London's transport network. Passengers are strongly advised to check TfL's latest travel information before embarking on journeys and to allow extra time for travel throughout the weekend.
