However, the streaming platform is facing backlash from fans who claim it fails to adequately promote its own shows.
Season 2 Release Sparks Outrage
The second season of Criminal Record premiered on April 22, 2026, catching many viewers by surprise. The series, first released in 2024, follows detectives Daniel Hegarty (Peter Capaldi) and June Lenker (Cush Jumbo) as they reopen a long-closed murder case after receiving an anonymous phone call.
On social media, fans expressed their frustration over the lack of marketing. User Mike wrote on X: 'Probably my favorite crime drama of the last few years. Didn't even know it was renewed for a second season, much less that it premiered TODAY.' Another user, Enix, questioned: 'Wait they renewed this and I just found out now?'
Fans Demand Better Promotion
A fan account for Apple TV commented: 'At this point, I promote their shows better than they do.' Shane demanded: 'Promote your shows so I can tune in!!!' Bec added: 'This is so up my alley and I've never even been served this.' Tracey echoed: 'I've literally never even heard of this and I watch SEVERAL Apple shows!'
