Noah Kahan begs fans to use toilet after concert poo incident

Noah Kahan has issued an extraordinary plea to concertgoers after a fan reportedly defecated on the floor during his Philadelphia show, reigniting debate about the etiquette of wearing nappies at concerts. The Stick Season singer tweeted on Saturday evening: 'If you have to poop at a show please dear god just go to the bathroom lmao.' He added: 'I've pooped my pants as much as the next 29-year-old but you guys gotta understand there's a venue worker out there with a 1000 yard stare after dealing with that.'

Viral footage and fan accounts

Kahan's tweet appeared to respond to a 12-second clip shared by account @KahanArchive, showing what looked like human faeces on the floor under an empty seat and smeared onto a walkway. A Reddit user claimed they were seated behind the perpetrator and witnessed them 'picking actual pieces of poop out of their butt and put it on the floor.' The user added: 'She started trying to wafflestomp the turds and acted like nothing happened but we flagged down security. One of the most unreal concert experiences I've ever witnessed.'

Record-breaking show with unfortunate consequence

Kahan played at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia on Friday night, setting a new record with 45,341 fans in attendance. However, the incident highlighted a growing trend of fans wearing nappies to avoid leaving their spot for bathroom breaks. Fans responded with disgust on social media, with one writing: 'The fact that people wear diapers just to hold barricade is all the evidence I need that we should have seated pits.' Another said: 'It's so embarrassing when the artist finds out about this sort of stuff happening at their shows. I'd be so disgusted.'

Olivia Rodrigo also weighs in

This is not an isolated phenomenon. Olivia Rodrigo recently spoke about the trend, admitting she could sometimes 'smell' the nappies of fans closest to her. While promoting her album on KISS Radio, she said: 'That's been an experience as a performer that I've smelled. I think about it kind of often.'

Kahan's other plea to fans

This is not the only plea Kahan has had to make recently. He also begged fans to stop stealing a road sign mentioned in his 2022 song The View Between Villages. The lyric 'Passed Alger Brook Road, I'm over the bridge' led to repeated theft of the sign, which Kahan called 'a total disrespect to the folks who live on that road and a headache for the town to deal with.'

Tour continues

Kahan released his fourth studio album, The Great Divide, earlier this year and has begun a sold-out world tour. The international leg starts in Australia in September.
