Channel 4's Virgin Island has returned for a second season, bringing 12 new participants to a luxury island to confront their intimacy issues under the guidance of sex therapists Dr Danielle Harel and Celeste Hirschman. While the show is often heartwarming, one moment from Tuesday night's episode has left viewers in stitches.
Bertie's Honest Confession
During a private session, contestant Bertie practiced various sexual positions while fully clothed, focusing on his thrusting technique. After the session, he shared his happiness with the group and praised the exercise. However, the cameras later caught him muttering to himself: "All that thrusting has made me hurt my bollocks… gonna have to sleep on my back tonight."
This candid moment quickly went viral, with fans flooding social media to express their amusement. User crazynightsss posted: "'All that thrusting has made me hurt my bollocks' is the funniest TV moment so far of 2026. Thank you, Virgin Island." Another user, atvfriend, cheered: "Gooo Bertie. He was thrusting." Jade declared: "'All that thrusting has made me hurt my bollocks.' Bloomin' love Bertie!"
Bertie himself joined in the fun, sharing a black-and-white photo with the quote and captioning it: "Goodnight everyone."
Impact of Virgin Island
Metro's TV editor Sabrina Barr noted the show's controversial yet impactful nature. She commented: "The virgins who go on the show are not weird, despite feeling that way – so many of their issues are common, but they're just treated as taboo by society and not spoken about enough." She added that the show addresses insecurities like body image, helping viewers feel represented.
The first season also saw real-life benefits: contestant Holly Stark announced her pregnancy 11 months after appearing. Dr Danielle Harel congratulated her online, calling it "amazing."
As for what's next for the new cohort, viewers will have to tune in to find out. Virgin Island continues Monday, May 4, on Channel 4.
