Jesus Christ Superstar at the London Palladium

Eurovision winner Sam Ryder stars as Jesus in a revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Jesus Christ Superstar, reworking Timothy Sheader's acclaimed 2016 Regent's Park production. A rotating cast of celebrity King Herods includes Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Simon Russell Beale, Richard Armitage, Boy George, Layton Williams, and Julian Clary. The show runs at the London Palladium until Sep 5, then transfers to Theatre Royal Drury Lane from Oct 16 to Jan 9 2027.

Cleansed at the Almeida Theatre

Sarah Kane's masterpiece Cleansed returns to London in Rebecca Frecknall's final production for the Almeida. Known for its intense depiction of love and torture, the play previously caused audience members to faint at the National Theatre. Runs Jul 21-Aug 29.

The Oresteia at the Bridge Theatre

Simon Stone directs a radical rewrite of Aeschylus' Greek tragedy, starring David Morrissey and Mary-Louise Parker in her UK stage debut. The production replaces Stone's planned Chekhov adaptation due to scheduling conflicts with star Chris Pine. Runs Jul 3-Sep 19.

Trainspotting the Musical at the Theatre Royal Haymarket

Irvine Welsh co-writes songs for this musical adaptation of his cult novel, with additional tracks from Danny Boyle's film. Follows the misadventures of Renton and Begbie. Limited run Jul 15-Sep 5.

Yard Theatre Returns with Two Shows

After upgrades, the Yard Theatre reopens with Philosophy of the World (Jul 14-25), a drama about rock eccentrics The Shaggs, and The World is Full of Married Men (Jul 21-Aug 1), a Jackie Collins adaptation performed by Barbie dolls from Swedish company Malmö Dockteater.

Malory Towers at Alexandra Palace Theatre

Emma Rice's adaptation of Enid Blyton's boarding school novels finally arrives in London, six years after its planned Southbank Centre debut. Runs Jul 22-Aug 2.

Midnight at the Never Get at Menier Chocolate Factory

Ben Platt makes his full UK stage debut in this chamber musical about illicit gay love in 1960s New York, with music by Mark Sonnenblick. Runs Jul 11-Sep 12.

Tao of Glass at @sohoplace

Phelim McDermott stages ten meditations on life and death set to Philip Glass compositions, premiered in Manchester in 2019. Runs Jul 25-Sep 12.

Secret Cinema's Grease: The Immersive Movie Musical

Returning to Evolution London, the immersive show combines film screening with live actors, featuring Ricky Wilson from the Kaiser Chiefs as Teen Angel. Runs Jul 22-Sep 13.

Here Comes J Edgar Hoover! at King's Head Theatre

A satirical musical about the FBI director, written by Harry Shearer, Tom Leopold, and Peter Matz, starring Bryan Batt from Mad Men. Runs Jul 10-Aug 16.
