Drill Rapper DSavv Captured in French Commune After Weeks on the Run
Daniel Boakye, the 21-year-old drill rapper who performs under the name DSavv, has been arrested in France after allegedly smuggling himself out of the UK in a lorry. The Metropolitan Police confirmed his detention in La Bouëxière, a small commune near Rennes, following a tip-off about his whereabouts.
Escape and International Manhunt
Boakye initially absconded from police custody on February 15 while being treated at Lewisham Hospital. According to authorities, he was then smuggled out of the country in a lorry, sparking an international manhunt involving the Met Police, National Crime Agency, and French law enforcement partners.
His arrest occurred at approximately 20:18 local time on Monday, March 2, in La Bouëxière—a forested commune with only about 5,000 residents. A police spokesperson stated: "A man who absconded from Lewisham Hospital has been detained in France. Daniel Boakye was arrested on suspicion of escaping lawful custody."
Social Media Taunts and Criminal Background
During his time on the run, Boakye posted numerous videos on social media mocking police efforts to capture him. In one clip, he declared himself "the boss of the UK" while dancing on a beach. Another video showed him lip-syncing to his own music, drawing from a bong and displaying expensive jewelry.
His lyrics often boast about violent crimes, including knife offenses. Police investigations reveal that between June 2021 and January 2022, Boakye participated in a series of robberies across London and Essex with three other teenagers. The group stole over £115,000 by forcing victims to unlock their phones and transfer cryptocurrency.
Gang Connections and Ongoing Investigations
Boakye is understood to have links to the London gang OFB (Original Farm Boys), based on the Broadwater Farm estate in Tottenham. Authorities are now working to identify individuals who may have assisted his escape and evasion.
Arrangements are currently underway to return Boakye to UK custody. The police spokesperson added: "Enquiries are ongoing to identify those who may have assisted Boakye to evade capture."
While some hip-hop fans commented critically on his musical abilities during his fugitive period, law enforcement focused on his dangerous criminal history. The arrest concludes weeks of coordinated international effort to apprehend the drill rapper whose bold escape attempts captured public attention.
