A knife-wielding attacker was swiftly tackled to the ground by members of the public after assaulting two people on a street in Brighton on Saturday evening, Sussex Police confirmed.

The incident occurred on Sillwood Street, a short walk from Brighton's famous beach, just before 6pm. One man was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released. The extent of the other person's injuries is not yet known.
Arrest and Police Response
A 33-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm with intent and remains in custody. According to Sussex Police, the suspect was 'swiftly tackled to the ground by members of the public' and his knife was seized. Detective Inspector Jen Pietersen said: 'This was a distressing incident for those in the vicinity. Neighbourhood policing officers will be providing visible patrols in the area and if anyone has any concerns they should speak with them.'
