Emmerdale: Mack Faces Devastating Betrayal from Charity and Ross
Emmerdale: Mack's Double Betrayal by Charity and Ross

Emmerdale spoilers follow for Wednesday's (April 22) episode, now available on ITVX, airing on ITV1 at 7:30pm. Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) is set to have his heart broken when he discovers that Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) cheated on him with Ross Barton (Michael Parr) last year.

The farmhand, as viewers know, wants nothing more than to become a dad and struggled with Charity's decision to be a surrogate for granddaughter Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill). He ultimately put his feelings aside, realizing Charity was granting her granddaughter's wish, and got on board. However, the baby Charity gave birth to earlier this week is not Sarah and Jacob Sugden's (Joe-Warren Plant) but her own biological child, with ex Ross as the father.

As viewers recall, the embryo transfer failed, and shortly after, Charity had a one-night stand with Ross, falling pregnant. Ross worked out the truth, but Mack remains in the dark. His heart will shatter when the truth explodes, not only because Charity cheated and gave birth to another man's baby but also because that man is his new best mate, Ross.

When Ross returned to the village and crossed paths with Mack, they initially clashed. However, over time they formed a bromance, evident on Wednesday when Mack thanked Ross for supporting Charity during the birth, as Mack was triggered by the confined lift space, recalling when John Sugden trapped him in a bunker. After Charity's surgery, Mack hugged Ross, who now feels guilty over his actions with Charity.

The question remains: how will Mack react to the betrayal from both Charity and Ross? He is set to lose everything in one fell swoop, and the timing couldn't be worse. Earlier this week, Mack revealed it was his son Reuben's birthday. Reuben lives with mum Chloe Harris (Jessie Elland), who has kept Mack away from their child, threatening to report Charity to the police for killing her father if Mack contacts them.

In a bid to protect Charity, Mack has kept his distance, but it has weighed on him. The shocking truth about Charity's baby will undoubtedly add to his pain. Meanwhile, Charity faces her own dilemma after Dr Todd (Caroline Harker) revealed she knows Jacob isn't the father and may use this to destroy Jacob, who recently complained about her bullying to HR.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 or streams from 7am on ITVX and YouTube.
