Honor MagicPad 4 Review: £499 Tablet Rivals iPad and Samsung with Premium Features
Honor MagicPad 4 Review: £499 Tablet Takes on iPad and Samsung

Honor's MagicPad 4 is a high-spec tablet with a high-spec price, but it challenges the dominance of iPad and Samsung. This review explores how it delivers premium features without the premium price tag.

Design and Display

The Honor MagicPad 4 is remarkably thin at just 4.8mm and weighs around 450g, making it easy to hold and well-balanced. Its incredibly thin bezels house a 12.3-inch OLED display with a sharp 3000 x 1920 resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate, offering an absolutely gorgeous viewing experience.

Performance and Battery

Powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip, the tablet handles tasks brilliantly. It features a 10100mAh battery that charges at up to 66 watts, ideal for heavy use or long periods between charges. Eight speakers provide spatial audio, enhancing entertainment and productivity.

Software and Accessories

The MagicOS software is not as clean or intuitive as iPadOS, with some pre-installed bloatware. Long-term software support lags behind Samsung. Accessories like the keyboard and stylus are decent but not class-leading. The cameras are suitable for video calls and 4K video recording, but not for photography.

Verdict

At around £499, the Honor MagicPad 4 offers premium hardware including a gorgeous OLED display, strong performance, and a super-slim design. It undercuts many competitors and works well for both entertainment and light productivity. While it doesn't beat the best four-figure tablets, it gets remarkably close without the high cost.
