A cyclist in his 20s is fighting for life after a hit-and-run collision in Bow, east London, early this morning (June 28). The Metropolitan Police confirmed the man sustained both life-threatening and life-changing injuries when he was struck by a BMW 3 series.
Collision near Mile End Park
The incident occurred at approximately 6:15am at the junction of Grove Road and Roman Road, adjacent to Mile End Park. Off-duty officers who were en route to work provided first aid at the scene before emergency services arrived.
The suspect vehicle failed to stop and was later found abandoned on Three Colts Lane, nearby. The Met's Serious Collision Investigation Unit has taken over the investigation. No arrests have been made, and inquiries to trace the driver are ongoing.
Appeal for witnesses
Police are urging witnesses, particularly those with dashcam footage, to come forward as a matter of urgency. Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting CAD 2088/28JUN26.
This hit-and-run follows a separate incident on Friday, June 26, where a cyclist in his 30s was critically injured after being struck by an unmarked police car on Long Lane in Southwark. The officer was responding to an emergency call at the time.
