Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) is about to learn the truth about the barn fires that have plagued Emmerdale Farm. Kyle Winchester (Huey Quinn) has been the mystery arsonist, setting fires as a way to cope with his father's cancer diagnosis and feelings of rejection. Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) accidentally caught Kyle in the act and tried to help him, but when Cain received news that his cancer had returned, the fires started again.
Graham's confession
Lydia (Karen Blick) inadvertently reveals to Cain that Kyle has Graham's watch, prompting Cain to question the connection. Graham feels compelled to confess Kyle's crimes to Cain, who is shocked. However, Cain's primary concern is not the fires but that Kyle confided in Graham instead of him. Cain confronts Kyle, but it remains to be seen whether Kyle will admit the truth.
Kyle's motives
Kyle struggled with rejection from his dad and feared losing him to cancer. He grabbed a lighter and set fires, even burning the car he and Cain had been working on after being rejected one too many times. Graham tried to straighten Kyle out by signing him up for cadets and giving him a watch to show he believed in him, but the damaged lad smashed it against the wall.
