Vincent Chan, a 45-year-old former nursery worker, has pleaded guilty to a series of 26 new criminal offences, including the filming of children in a classroom setting. This development adds to his already extensive list of convictions for sexually abusing young girls while employed at a nursery in London.
Guilty Pleas to Multiple Charges
At Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court on Thursday, Chan appeared via video link from HMP Pentonville to face the fresh allegations. He admitted to 10 counts of taking indecent photographs of children, six charges of outraging public decency, one count of sexual assault on a female, and nine counts of voyeurism.
These guilty pleas confirm that Chan engaged in upskirting, filming up the skirts of girls as they sat at tables in a classroom. Additionally, police recovered images from 2017 showing Chan exposing himself in a classroom, along with videos believed to depict him performing a solo sex act.
Background of Abuse at Bright Horizons Nursery
Chan is already facing years behind bars for molesting girls aged three and four while working at the Bright Horizons nursery in West Hampstead, north London. He filmed himself carrying out this abuse during naptime at the facility and has confessed to downloading thousands of indecent images of children.
The new charges reveal a prolonged campaign of voyeurism that spanned from 2011 to 2023, indicating a pattern of predatory behaviour over more than a decade.
Upcoming Sentencing and Legal Proceedings
With these latest admissions, Chan has now pleaded guilty to a total of 52 offences. He is scheduled to be sentenced on 12 February for all charges, which could result in a significantly extended prison term given the severity and volume of the crimes.
The case has drawn widespread attention due to the breach of trust involved, as Chan was in a position of care and responsibility at the nursery. Authorities continue to investigate the full extent of his actions to ensure justice for the victims and their families.
