A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the fatal stabbing of a woman in North West London, in a tragic incident that has shocked the local community.

Police Launch Murder Investigation

Police launched a murder investigation after a 50-year-old woman was found critically injured in Willesden on Friday afternoon, January 31. Officers were called to Pound Lane, a largely residential street close to the High Road, at around 4pm following reports of a stabbing.

When they arrived, officers discovered the woman with several injuries. Paramedics provided emergency treatment at the scene, but she was pronounced dead shortly afterwards. The woman has not yet been formally named, and her next of kin are being supported by specialist officers from the Metropolitan Police.

Arrest Made and Police Statement

A 30-year-old man was arrested later the same evening on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody, and police believe he was known to the victim. Detective Chief Inspector Rebecca Woodsford, from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, said:

“Firstly, my thoughts are with the victim and her family at this incredibly difficult time. This incident happened in a busy part of Willesden, and I’d also like to thank the members of the public who provided first aid and called the emergency services.”

“A suspect was arrested within several hours of the incident and he remains in custody. Our priority is to establish the circumstances surrounding what happened. However, based on our enquiries so far, there is nothing to suggest any wider risk to the public.”
